Dunkey (a.k.a. videogamedunkey on YouTube) is being roasted on Twitter because he gave a Final Fantasy VII Remake review that was somewhat less than sparkling.
The FFVII Remake has accumulated some shining reviews from critics and fans alike. Our own review gives it a decent 4 out of 5 stars, commending the game on its beautiful visuals, soundtrack, and combat, as well as its nostalgia factor. The score fell short, however, thanks to the game’s camera issues, uninspired dungeon designs, and the fact that a whole lot of extra content feels like a filler aimed at stretching out the run-time.
That last point was also brought up by Dunkey in his video, along with other critiques relating to the often-awkward voice acting, the fact that the game “undercuts” a lot of the drama and urgency present in the original, and Jessie - just her overall being, really.
So of course, that set Twitter ablaze with weeb-fuelled fury directed towards Dunkey, to the extent that he even became a trending topic.
Even though he actually praises the original FFVII throughout the vid, obviously some big-time FF fans didn’t take kindly to him uttering anything remotely critical about the remake. But this is literally Dunkey we’re talking about; his reviews are most times positively dripping with sarcasm and humor.
And come on, whatever your views, you gotta admit his compilation of the game’s anime grunts was stellar.
