Thanks to the online TTRPG simulators and popular internet shows, Dungeons & Dragons has been rising in popularity over the past couple of years. More people want to get into Dungeons & Dragons and many players and DMs discuss the game online. Where there are online discussions, there are memes.

Barbarian is one of the most fun classes to play as, or even have in your party. Since they usually drop their mental ability scores to be as powerful as they can be, they end up with characters that, at best, are slow and socially awkward, and, at worst, are mindless murder machines who leave every place they visit in ashes.

10 Barbarians Vs Doors

Barbarians are quite strong against most enemies, and one of the most iconic enemies of any D&D party, are locked doors. A party usually has multiple ways of passing through a locked door. Rogues can unlock the door with Thieves’ Tools, Wizards can open them by the spell Knock, Druids can Wild Shape into a fly and squeeze through, and, somehow, Bards can smooth talk the door into being open!

But whenever the party has a Barbarian, a locked door (or even a solid stone wall for that matter) won’t be much of an obstacle, since they love entering into a rage and bashing whatever’s standing on their way; living or dead.

9 The Barbarian Druids

The Barbarian Druid is one of the strongest multiclass options in D&D. The combination of Wild Shape and Rage adds up to a character that can tank tons of damage. While a strong mechanical combination, the duo has a lot less in common characteristically, and the multiclass creates a fun and unique character to role-play as.

The iconic photo of Arnold Schwarzenegger with the animals perfectly encapsulates the feeling of being a Barbarian Druid. A large, strong, and usually aggressive character, enjoying nature and finding peace among animals, is quite funny and endearing.

8 Barbarians In Different Situations

Barbarians are a powerhouse in combat. They are the toughest class in the game, and they can dish out loads of damage. But when it comes to encounters that don’t require them to rage and hit the first moving creature they see with their weapon, they have some issues.

They sometimes have low dexterity and stealth, and they almost always have low intelligence and charisma. These shortcomings often lead to disastrous yet comedic situations in stealth missions and social situations, and the meme perfectly shows the difference between them.

7 He Attak

Some believe Barbarians are somewhat one-dimensional as they can only be useful in fights. While experienced players can bring out depth and flavor in any character they play, fans still love to make fun of Barbarians for this reason.

The best example of it is this take of the “He protec, He attac” meme template. They might be one-dimensional sometimes, but let’s be honest — they are good at what they do.

6 Oh God, There’s Two Of Them!

There are no rules against having multiple characters of the same class in one party, and although it is unlikely to happen, even thinking about having two Barbarians in one group is hilarious.

The problem-solving skills of barbarians are usually balanced out in a party by the smarter characters. But with two of them, this scene from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is a fine example of what you can expect in the game.

5 Paralyzed Barbarians

Barbarians are quite susceptible to magical effects since they usually have low mental ability scores and saving throws. Some might think charm effects are the worst since it turns the strongest member of the group against them. But as a Barbarian, as long as you are fighting, you are having fun!

The worst effect to be under are spells such as Hold Person and effects that paralyzes the Barbarian. Barbarians love to fight, and watching others fight while they are unable to move is quite frustrating. This line from Blackadder is what every paralyzed Barbarian wants to say.

4 Stealth Missions

It’s not that Barbarians are specifically bad at stealth. They might even have a good dexterity score and proficiency in stealth. But the combination of a character that loves to fight, with low intelligence, means that they usually prefer to go in guns blazing instead of the more subtle approaches.

Clerics and Paladins are usually the characters that just can’t participate in stealth missions, and they will gladly stay out and let the Rogues and Rangers take care of the task. But Barbarians don’t want to stealth and don’t want to miss out on the fun either!

3 The Barbarian Way

The duo of the high intelligence Wizard and low intelligence Barbarian is always comedy gold, especially when it comes to problem-solving. And this short exchange is one of the rare moments that the simplicity of a Barbarian is more efficient than the intelligence of a Wizard.

While Barbarians are dumb, the players playing them are not. The smartest players are the ones who come up with good ideas and present them as dumb characters. So from time to time, it might not be a bad idea to listen to the Barbarian.

2 Relentless Rage

A Barbarian’s worst nightmare is losing their rage early. They will do anything in their power to stay angry, and when they enter a rage, it’s hard to stop them. This might lead to them attacking NPCs that are not necessarily hostile, and keep the fight going.

Nothing captures this better than this moment from Parks and Recreations’ fan-favorite character, Ron Swanson. Just like Ron Swanson, anger can be relaxing for a barbarian. So much so that they might ask their allies to attack them just so they can stay angry.

1 Man Literally Too Angry To Die

When Barbarians are angry, they are hard to kill. This is literally true for level 14 Zealot Barbarians since they have an overpowered subclass feature that lets them continue fighting if they are raging after they fall to zero hit points, or even die.

While the famous meme of the news title “Man Literally Too Angry To Die” is a perfect fit for describing a Zealot Barbarian, this meme is even funnier. The scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail is so hilarious, and in retrospect, it definitely seems like a Zealot Barbarian who just refuses to die.
