An upcoming Dungeons and Dragons movie has been hit with a huge delay, causing the movie, originally scheduled for November 19th, 2021, to be pushed out all the way to May 27th, 2022. Though movie-goers are no stranger to delays caused by the Coronavirus, this one seems particularly drastic.
Paramount claims that it delayed the movie as a result of pandemic related filming issues and studio closures, which is understandable as many movies have been delayed for the same reasons. Still, this Dungeons and Dragons movie was already set for release in late 2021, so pushing it off to 2022 implies major setbacks.
Not much is known about the upcoming movie except that it will likely take place in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, as its story focuses on the powerful artifact, the Eye of Vecna, and a powerful Golden Dragon named Palarandusk that has appeared in other stories of the Forgotten Realms.
Still, when the movie does release, it is looking to be a big deal given its high budget, intention on bringing in an A-list cast, and potential franchising. A modern representation of the Dungeons and Dragons world in cinema would do wonders to bring the franchise to more players.
Dungeons and Dragons is available now.
