Dreams is getting a patch on July 22nd that will enable PlayStation VR support. To help the Dreamers with their creations, Media Molecule will provide them with new tutorials, how-tos, kits, and new content to play. This will be a free update.

When you boot up the VR mode, there will be an “All Aboard” introduction that will help you get accustomed to the controls if you’re either a creator or a player. The developer of the game, Media Molecule, has noted that you don’t actually have to be in VR to create VR games. However, if you do have a headset, it said that “sculpting in VR is a very one-to-one experience and lets you fully immerse in the creation process.”

Creators can designate if their games are playable in VR or not, and Dreams will ask you if the game was comfortable through the rating system attached to each project.

At $49.99, Dreams is a powerful game creation tool for those who love to tinker around; it has a full creation suite for music, you can make movies from it, and inevitably, creators have already made their own versions of their favorite games like Sonic the Hedgehog. Now with VR, we’ll be able to explore the worlds the creators have through our eyeballs. It should be a significant source of content for PSVR owners, who may feel left out in the cold right now.

Yes, Iron Man VR is on the way, but the major releases for PlayStation VR in general have come few and far between. There are some standout titles, like Trover Saves the Universe, Beat Saber, and Job Simulator, but very little has left a mark as of late. Perhaps Dreamers can change that with simple, yet intuitive ways to use the headset. On the other hand, playing a VR game that the creator hasn’t even tested by not having the peripheral sounds nauseating.

Dreams’ levels weren’t particularly fun at first, as creators were getting their hands on it, but as time goes by, there could actually be fully functional and fun titles to play from this crazy in-game engine. We could start seeing the fruits of the community’s labor next year as development time has sunk in. Maybe we’ll even see some more crazy fan remakes!
