Dream Daddy is a visual-novel, dad-dating simulator game. Featuring a colorful cast of characters, wacky references, and dad-jokes galore, you can immerse yourself in the world and eligible bachelors via their own dad-sona. One such dateable Daddy is Damien Bloodmarch, the resident “Goth Dad” of the game.

Despite his morose appearance, Damien is - as with all other bachelors - a loving father to his son, and a rich, complex character underneath his Gothic exterior. There’s more than meets the eye to this dreamy daddy, and for those interested, here’s a small guide on how to woo him.

Damien’s Likes And Dislikes

Damien is, again, the “Gothic” dad of the game, and he takes the lifestyle as seriously as ever, back to its earliest roots. As such, he loves everything Victorian, loves graveyards and everything morose, and loves taxidermy. On the other hand, Damien greatly dislikes everything Edwardian (the era following the Victorian Era), dislikes when people incorrectly name his fashion and dislikes garlic bread.

In other words, he’s a traditional Goth (and maybe secret vampire to boot), and he’s perfect for anyone who loves a Mr-Tall-Dark-and-Mysterious. But like any other dad in the game, he cares deeply for his son Lucien and pet pooch, Duchess Cordellia. And in the vein of dad-hood, he’s as corny as any and every other bachelor.

Date One: Gardenscaping

Damien’s first date is personal, relaxing, and simple, as he’ll invite you over to his home for tea and relaxation. Though, said home is less of a house and more of a miniature manor, matching his Victorian aesthetic. The date will start in his personal study, and there is no wrong answer when choosing what to do in there - Damien will like whatever choice you make.

After that small scene in the study, the real tea time will begin. Feel free to compliment his home, as he’ll love to expand upon it and the Victorian inspirations behind it. When it comes time to reveal your personal hobby, he’ll enjoy it if you take the more bookish route, be it through word jumbles or soap-making.

After tea, Damien will invite the Dad-sona outside, for a calming stroll through his garden. When stopping at his beloved Orange Lily, he’ll ask a befitting name for the beautiful scene. Responding with a poetic title - especially if it uses older vernacular - will win him over, and he’ll then go on to ask for your favorite flower. Again, there’s no answer he overtly dislikes here, but he’ll slightly prefer Honeysuckle or Snapdragon over an answer of Sunflowers.

As the date comes to an end, Damien’s son will appear on the scene. And as seems to be a common theme with the older kids of the game, Lucien is going through a rough, rebellious phase. You will have to witness Damien performing the less glamorous aspects of being a Dad, and he’ll greatly appreciate if you respond with fellow, Dad-ly sympathy, and admiration.

Date Two: First, A Letter

Date number two starts off differently from most other second dates. Instead of kicking off together, you will instead be prompted to write a love letter to Damien, to invite him to the movies, the actual scene of the date.

When crafting the letter, it’s best to avoid anything involving swearing or overly-modern vernacular. While you won’t need to go too heavy on the “thou arts” and “yea verilys,” it’s still best to keep the flattery, flowery wording in mind.

Date Two: Then, A Movie

Either way, Damien will accept, and the pair of you will be off to the cinema. There will be two choices during the actual duration of the movie. Damien is a bit of an emotional watcher, and responding to his emotions with comfort and kindness will be best, as will lightening his mood with the usual, corny Dad joke.

After the movie will be another small, final scene. As Damien’s feelings bloom forth more openly, it will still be prudent to respond with fervent kindness and enthusiasm. Of course, being a Goth, Damien will depart from you with a token of his love: his handkerchief. It’s best to respond to this token with as much romantic flare as possible.

Date Three: Where to Catch a Dog

Damien lives a semi-secret double life, namely when it comes to his work and volunteering. During those brief times, he sheds his Gothic attire for more mundane work clothes, and it’s in this fashion that you will accompany him on his third and final date, as you help him find a missing dog around the town.

There will be several places to search for the MIA pooch: the cul-de-sac, coffee shop, softball field, bayside, and aquarium. But in order to unlock the best choices with him, there needs to be a specific order to your visits. The first and fifth places visited should be the cul-de-sac. The second place should be the coffee shop, then the softball field, and then the bayside (the aquarium is completely skippable).

Date Three: How to Catch a Dog

The first time around the cul-de-sac, Damien will enquire about the odds on this doggy debacle, and he’ll love it if you respond with a bit of sardonic and macabre humor. There won’t be any serious choices to make at the coffee shop or softball field, though these places will reveal more about Damien and his relationship to the town. Once at Bayside, Damien will be a bit down at the lack of dog-finding, so it’ll be up to you to cheer him up with some good old Dad jokes. Just avoid mentioning dogs in the joke, as it’ll bring him down more.

Once back at the cul-de-sac, the lost pooch will be found, though she’ll be stubborn and won’t want to go with you. The best way to win her over? Banana Bread! But even with sweet carbs, she’ll not be willing to leave her newfound home - which is, conveniently, the literal home of another neighbor and bachelor, Hugo. The situation is awkward, so playing it cool and cracking a witty pizza-roll joke or two will help diffuse the situation, and find the escapee canine her forever home.

After such a crazy day, the date will finally wind down to a close, with one last question from Damien: to kiss, or not to kiss? It’s best to oblige his romantic request with as much Gothic charm as ever. Do this, and you will have successfully wooed him entirely, and won his pin-up to boot!
