Just recently, Bandai Namco confirmed plans to initiate a 24 hour open beta for Dragon Ball FighterZ that will serve as a followup to the most recent testing period held last weekend, as many players reported a litany of server issues that effectively kept them from jumping into the action. Now, it looks as if the publisher and the fighting game’s developer Arc System Works have even more good news for fans, as the companies have officially revealed a new playable character just a week before the game’s launch.
As seen in the image below courtesy of ShonenGamez, the latest issue of V-Jump magazine in Japan reveals that Dragon Ball FighterZ will add Majin Android 21 as a playable character for the game upon release. This version of Android 21 will basically utilize the original character model, but her outfit will be changed, she will gain a tail, and her skin is going to be pink to reflect the Majin form that she uses in combat.
For those unaware, Majin Android 21 is Dragon Ball FighterZ’s only original character outside of the anime series’ established canon, as she will serve as the main antagonist in the game’s plot. From the first trailer that introduced her, Android 21 came off as a caring individual, but she was later revealed in the game’s story trailer to be a power-hungry entity on a tyrannical path to devour all of the world’s strongest fighters.
Those keeping count will note that the addition of Majin Android 21 to Dragon Ball FighterZ brings the game’s total playable roster up to 24, as she will join the likes of Goku, Piccolo, Krillin, Frieza, Cell, Majin Buu, and more. While Majin Android 21 is set to be the last character added before the title goes live, Bandai Namco and Arc System Works are expected to add even more fighters as DLC at some point in the future.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to launch on January 26, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
