Dragon Age: Origins is not just unique for being the first title in the Dragon Age series. It also is the only Dragon Age game to have the popular origin stories.

While there were only three races to choose from (human, dwarf, and elf), players also got to choose the characters’ cultural background for them. Humans could be mages or nobles, dwarves had commoners and nobles, and elves had city elves, the Dalish, and mage elves.

Every background had a different story the player got to experience before joining with the Grey Wardens. The story also influenced quests in the future. In other words, what origin story the player picked was a big decision to make. With so many choices though, it can be hard to choose. So why not choose your race and class based on your zodiac sign?

12 Aries: Warrior Dwarf Commoner

Aries are born from March 21 to April 19. They are capable multi-taskers and are known for their courage. Their enjoyment often stems from physical challenges and while they can be optimistic people, they can also be short-tempered.

Warrior is a no-brainer class for someone as determined as an Aries. They would also enjoy a dwarf commoner’s backstory, as they have to work hard in order to survive the strict Dwarf caste system.

11 Taurus: Warrior Dalish Elf

Symbolized by a bull, Taurus are born from April 20 to May 20. They may have earned the bull icon for their stubbornness, as that is what they are most well-known for. Besides their uncompromising nature, they are devoted and stable people.

The Dalish have a saying, “We are the last of the Elvhenan, and never again shall we submit.” That level of determination is a very Taurus outlook. A Taurus would love the patient and hardworking system of the Dalish.

10 Gemini: Rogue City Elf

Born from May 21 to June 20, Gemini are adaptable people who enjoy the little things like chats with neighbors and strolls around town. They are gentle, curious, and dislike being alone and stuck in a routine.

City elves have to have the adaptability of a Gemini, as their way of life is always under the scrutiny of the human nobles. A Gemini would love their way of life on their good days, and heavily empathize with their bad days.

9 Cancer: Rogue Dwarven Commoner

Cancer are born from June 21 to July 22. They are known as the most challenging of the zodiac to get to know. They care deeply about the world around them, and thus put up strong walls so that no one can take advantage of their sentimentality.

A rogue is a great choice for the secretive Cancer. A dwarven commoner backstory is pretty moody as well, which will feed into a Cancer’s already pessimistic nature about the world. (Though to be fair, all the origin stories are tragic on some level).

8 Leo: Warrior Dwarf Noble

Symbolized by a regal lion, Leos are warm-hearted and cheerful people. They do have a taste for the more expensive things in life like high-quality clothes, relaxing vacations, and seeking out fun activities with friends.

A dwarf noble would also understand these desires. A warrior class also stands out the most in battle, and Leos typically like to be the center of attention.

7 Virgo: Rogue Dalish Elf

Born between August 23 and September 22, Virgo are practical and hardworking people. It would not be unusual for them to spend their days outdoors due to their love of nature and animals. They are a little closed off to the outer world, often in pursuit of protecting themselves from unwanted attention.

The Dalish are perfect for Virgo, as they live their lives in the natural world among the animals and trees of Thedas. A rogue also tends to keep to themselves more.

6 Libra: Mage Elf

Libra are born from September 23 to October 22. They are fair-minded and social people. They dislike being alone and like to avoid confrontations. Despite avoiding arguments though, they are most likely of the signs to carry a heavy grudge if messed with.

Mage elves are at the bottom of the social hierarchy in Thedas. Elves and mages are both quite oppressed groups, so a mix of the two is an experience. A Libra may actually enjoy this narrative, as it entitles them to one of their weaknesses: self-pity.

5 Scorpio: Warrior City Elf

Symbolized by a scorpion, Scorpio are born between October 23 and November 21. They are the kind of friend you want by your side, as their passion and bravery is strongest when backing up their friends. However, they dislike passive people and value people of fellow passions.

The city elf origin is a story of revenge on behalf of the elf community. A Scorpio would feel very in-line with the motivations of the characters for this background.

4 Sagittarius: Rogue Dalish Elf

Born from November 22 to December 21, Sagittarius see freedom as their greatest treasure. They have intense curiosities and a good sense of humor. Unlike some signs, Sagittarius thrive on change.

The nomadic lifestyle of the Dalish is the dream of a Sagittarius. A Sagittarius would also enjoy their story of open-minded discovery.

3 Capricorn: Warrior Human Noble

Capricorn are born from December 22 to July 19. They are family-oriented people with a talent for discipline and self-control. If someone does them wrong, they can be unforgiving.

Their discipline is perfect for the lore of a warrior class. Their love of family and unforgiving nature would make them feel quite in-line with the human noble origin.

2 Aquarius: Rogue Human Noble

Those born from January 20 to February 18 are Aquarius. They can be aloof people, but also make for the best listeners. While they tend to steer clear of emotional expression, they hate loneliness.

This sign also makes for a good human noble origin, but as a rogue. A rogue human is a bit of a black sheep of the Cousland family of warriors. Aquarius hate broken promises, which is a good motivation for the tragedy of those under the human noble origin.

1 Pisces: Mage Human

Pisces are born from February 19 to March 20. They are pretty non-judgemental people who are more easily forgiving than many of the other signs. In their wisdom, they find empathy for others and can be quite selfless due to that talent.

A human mage origin story is perfect for Pisces because then they may empathize with Jowan. Also, they would do pretty well in a Mage Tower surrounded by books.
