By the end of Dragon Age Inquisition, Solas had become one of (if not the most) intriguing characters of the series. At the end of Inquisition, it was revealed that he kept one of the biggest secrets in the series and would most likely be the main villain of the fourth game title.
Fans have pretty split opinions about him. There are those who are major fans of his romance. Others hope to kill him in the next game and some still cling to hope that they can save him from himself before he gets to a path of no return. His character as inspired a ton of fan art. Here are ten pieces made by talented artists. Be sure to check out the artist links as well,as they deserve credit.
10 Foreboding
If you are a fan of Solas, than nipuni is an artist you have to check out. She makes a lot of fan art of him. If you also play Final Fantasy XIV, she does a lot of fan art for that game as well.
In fact, she does a lot of Emet-Selch whose backstory is a little similar to Solas. She really gave Solas an imposing figure in this piece of fan art.
9 With The Orb
By the end of Inquisition, it is revealed that Coryheus’ orb actually belonged to Solas. Part of the reason that Solas stayed with the Inquisition is that he wanted to get the orb back. It was all part of his plan to tear down the Veil between the Fade and Thedas.
The art was made by e-soulu. Their style of often mystical and they have done various pieces of Dragon Age fan art.
8 Lonely Throne
This stunning piece is another one by nipuni. She titled it, “King of a Dead World.” No description is offered, but the piece has a tone of emotion and leaves a lot of room for the imagination.
Solas is a character who constantly wears a mask to hide his true intentions and feelings. What fans do learn is that he is aloof while also someone who is lonely. A terrible combination.
7 In Fields
An amazing artistic tactic used in a lot of Solas fan art is in surrounding him in empty space.
It shows that he is alone and the world is pressing down around him. The tactic reflects his personality and struggle. This is another piece by nipuni.
6 The Hermit
In Inquisition, a lot of characters and descriptions were assigned their own Tarot cards. Solas’ starting card is The Hermit, and that is what this artist based their fan art on.
A lot of lovely detail went into it, as you can even see the bone and veins through the skin of his arm. The art was made by Mezamero.
5 Concept Inspired
You may see a lot of fan art of Solas with dreadlocks. This is because the released concept art of Dragon Age characters showed that an earlier concept for Solas had him with dreadlocks instead of being bald.
Fans latched on to that concept and like to believe Solas may have once had dreadlocks when he was younger. The art was made by EshiraArt.
4 In The Woods
Another great piece by nipuni! This one shows Solas and what seems to be a mage Inquisitor Lavellan journeying through a dark forest together. Solas is using what looks to be Veilfire to light their way through the darkness.
It is pretty common to see fan art of Lavallen and Solas together, as Lavellan is the only Inquisitor that Solas’ romance is open to.
3 In The Fade
A running joke among fans is how obsessed Solas is with the Fade. He can go on and on about it in a conversation and you are always bound to get approval points if you ask him questions to let him talk even more. Not many fans did predict he created the Fade himself though.
The art was made by Smilika. They’ve done a lot of other Dragon Age fan art as well, so check out their page.
2 Under A mask
Solas is portrayed with wolves in a ton of fan art. Obviously, this is due to the reveal that he is the Dread Wolf from Dalish lore. As to why he is the Dread Wolf, fans are still learning the details. It appears that the name was given to him, and it was not one he thought up of himself.
This art shows what appears to be Lavellan about to discover his true identity. The piece was made by Nikranel, who as a lot of other pieces of Dragon Age fan art on their page.
1 Reunited
Once again we have a piece from nipuni. It appears to be Inquisitor Lavellan and Solas meeting in combat.
Lavellan’s arm is missing from the Trespasser DLC, but it seems she created another arm out of magic. It is also just a guess, but since she is crying, she probably romanced Solas. According to nipuni, this art is a commission piece and the Lavellan’s name is Avira.
