Merrill is a Dalish mage companion as well as a romance option from Dragon Age 2. She is known for her quirky personality. At times she can be naive, and on other occasions, she has a ton of wisdom worth hearing.

One of the first things the player learns about her is that she practices Blood Magic, a controversial form of magic in the world of Thedas. The rest of her clan doesn’t approve, and she strives to repair an eluvian in order to uncover old Dalish knowledge that was lost.

She isn’t known to be a fan favorite, but she is certainly popular in the fan art community. Here are 10 pieces of fan art of Merrill from Dragon Age 2.

10 Eluvian

Made by the artist, Smilika,  this piece shows Merrill in front of an eluvian.

Eluvians have been a part of the Dragon Age universe since Origins. In fact, the eluvian Merrill has is the same one that appears in the Dalish origin from the first game. She has dragged it with her since the events of Origins and it can be seen in her house in Dragon Age 2.

9 Reflection

As seen on this list, many pieces of fan art utilize Merrill’s eluvian. This one by sandara is particularly striking. It doesn’t show Merrill herself, but her reflection in the broken mirror.

The texture of the glass is the most stunning part of this piece. The artist made sure every flaw glass can have be clearly seen. The reflection could be symbolic of elf culture itself and/or Merrill’s own flaws.

8 In Field

Taking a break from mirrors, this fan art was also done by Smilika. Unlike their first piece, the artist used way more color. It captured Merrill well and looks like it could even stand as a redraw for a screenshot from the game.

The artist is a big Dragon Age fan, also having produced fan art of characters like Anders, Cullen, and Solas.

7 With Carver

If Carver survives the first part of the game and hangs out with Merrill, it becomes pretty clear that he has a crush on her. Merrill acts like she’s oblivious to this, and it makes for some cute and funny banter.

This piece was done by aimo and a lot of Dragon Age fans are familiar with her art. Name a character, and it is likely that she has done fan art of them.

6 Profile

This amazing piece was actually done by the artist before they played the game. The art was made by the talented onibox. They have played through Origins though, and have some pretty cool fan art of Leliana with an elf mage Warden.

A lot of love went into Merrill’s ears in this piece, with the way the contrasting shadows and light fall on them.

5 Roaming

Merrill looks quite contemplative in this piece. The artist took some creative liberty as well, getting rid of her braids and fluffy shoulder pads. Those choices gave her a much smoother and more serious look.

The art was made by Neirr. They have also done fan art of characters like Dorian, Cassandra, Morrigan, Anders, Varric, Solas, Cullen, and Alistair.

4 Carefree

The perspective of this fan art is quite unique and Merrill is looking adorable. It looks as though she climbed a building in Kirkwall to take in the stunning view.

The art was done by paperpixy. They’ve also done fan art for fandoms like Game of Thrones, Howl’s Moving Castle, Over the Garden Wall, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

3 Flower Girl

Varric’s nickname for Merrill is Daisy. Due to being Dalish and the nature of her magic that isn’t blood-related, a lot of her art is associated with nature.

This piece, made by laskulls, depicts Merrill with flowers in her hair, jewels in her ears, and a gorgeous modern outfit that looks suitable for a garden wedding.

2 Blood Magic

Blood Magic can be very aesthetically gruesome. However, aaaerynn made fan art in which the blood almost looks more like red smoke. She uses Blood Magic to try to repair the mirror. It is up to the player whether to encourage or discourage her actions.

This smoke-like texture appears in a lot of her art actually, including fan art of Mulan, Elizabeth from Bioshock, and other Dragon Age characters like Solas.

1 Big Eyes

Elf designs went through a big change between Origins and Dragon Age 2. In the second game, they got much lankier and their eyes became huge and anime-like. In Inquisition, the design settled on a middle-ground. However, this definitely influenced Merrill’s fan art as most of them depict her with very large and expressive eyes.

This art, made by rezoeline, has the puppy-eyes but went a little easier on the elven ears. It strikes a nice balance.
