Cassandra was introduced in Dragon Age 2 but did not become a full-fledged companion character until Dragon Age: Inquisition. She quickly became a fan favorite due to her rough exterior with a sentimental and romantic heart.
Besides being a companion, she is a major influencer of the Inquisition, being the only companion that also advises war table missions. Besides that, she can even become the new Divine. That is a bit of a big deal.
Due to being a fan favorite, Cassandra gets a lot of fan art. Here are 10 pieces done by artists. Be sure to check out the links provided, as the artists deserve credit for their talented works.
8 Nevarran
Cassandra comes from Nevarra, which is a place not visited yet in the games. In the most recent of the books though, fans are starting to catch a glimpse of Nevarran culture. It is pretty obsessed with death and necromancy. Cassandra is not quite loyal to the culture or her homeland.
This commission was completed by TheBoyofCheese and the artist surrounded Cassandra in what seem to be symbols of Nevarran culture.
7 Modern Inquisition
A modern Cassandra stands between a modern Leliana and Josephine. These three women all command the war table with Cullen.
The artist, may12324, did an excellent job with making the modern styles suit the personality of the characters. Its a great translation of fantasy characters and its now easy to picture these three hanging out at a mall or going to a concert together.
6 In Battle
This art was done by eva-soulu and they do a lot of fan art that looks book worthy.
Cassandra looks like she is leading a charge, as usual. She is a tank character, so she often is the one who goes headlong into battle. Not only does this go into game mechanics, but it suits her personality as she is quite courageous.
5 Maker Take You
Here is another modern design of Cassandra, but designed a little differently. She actually has a shirt with the Inquisition symbol on it under her jacket.
The artist, antaarf, wrote “In my imagination, she (Cassandra) would not lose her outward rudeness, but also concealed a soft charm. The palette and the mood came to me and inspired and it was very nice to draw this art!”
With Sword
This art shows Cassandra with a sword bearing the symbol of the Inquisition. The outfit she is wearing seems to be the one she wears at Skyhold. The style looks a little like art nouveau.
The art was made by anndr whose other pieces of fan art include characters from The Witcher, Resident Evil, Moana, Game of Thrones, and more.
4 Blue Scarf
There is a lot of movement in this beautiful fan art by nimloth87. A lot of love went into the blue scarf, which is not something Cassandra wears in canon. According to the artist, the scarf was a courtesy of Dorian.
That all makes sense since Dorian is a man of class and fashion. However, it does seem to go against Cassandra’s practicality. The artist even points out a scarf is possibly the number one item a warrior shouldn’t wear in combat.
From Behind
This piece looks like a panel out of a comic book. It was made by an artist based out of Ukraine, ukropstales. Most of the art by said artist contains earthy tones, dim light, and have similar comic book feels to them.
Other fan art pieces the artist has done include characters from games like Dishonored, Overwatch, and The Witcher.
3 Tarot Card
A unique trait of Inquisition is that different characters and codex pages got tarot card art. The most popularly known of these cards are the companion ones. This particular art is a redraw of Cassandra’s romance tarot card.
The art was done by destinyapostasy who also does fan art for Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing. They have a lot of other Dragon Age fan art in their gallery as well.
2 Leaning
Part of Cassandra that disappointed many fans was that she was a heterosexual romance. Dragon Age is a series with a lot of LGBTQIA+ characters, so fans can get disappointed if certain characters are not available to them. After all, Cassandra is a very attractive and strong woman as show in this sketch by yuhimebarbara.
1 Inquisition Eye
Cassandra looks a little sad in this piece done by gjiu-art. The look does work for her, as she is a more serious character out of the cast. Behind her looks like the symbol of the Inquisition, the eye.
Other fan arts the artist has done include Life is Strange, Metal Gear, The Witcher, She-Ra, Mass Effect, and Assassin’s Creed.
