Alistair is the players’ first companion in Dragon Age: Origins, another Grey Warden, love interest, and a character fan favorite. He is full of jokes, loves cheese, and can be quite romantic in a dorky sort of way.

He is such a major character that—assuming he’s not dead, of course—he appears in both Dragon Age II and Dragon Age: Inquisition. Depending on your choices in Origins, a lot of different fates can happen to Alistair. He can end up a wandering drunk, King of Fereldan, stay with the Grey Wardens, or dead.

10 Tabris And Alistair

This piece was a commission done by perditionxroad. Besides Dragon Age, the artist has also done fan art for Persona 5, Harry Potter, Black Panther, and more.

The Alistair in this fan art looks much more serious than usual, but, even he has his serious moments. Tabris is the city elf Grey Warden character. In her origin story, nobles destroy her wedding day.

9 King Portrait

It is still widely debated among the fandom as to whether Alistair makes for a decent king. Some fans admit to just picking him because they hated Anora. Others chose him because they valued that he was kind while Anora was more merciless.

This black and white portrait was made by CCCrystalClear. They’ve done tons of video game fan art for games like Overwatch, Dishonored, Undertale, Mass Effect, Fallout, and more.

8 The Starting Party

This art was made by naddaya. Their fan artwork consists of a lot of Dragon Age, The Witcher, Greedfall, and more.

With the Grey Wardens mostly defeated, the player and Alistair are the only survivors of Ostagar. They team-up with Morrigan, a Witch of the Wilds. She and Alistair hate each other, so that’s… uh… fun.

7 The Rose Scene

Alistair’s rose scene is one of the most famous romance scenes in the Dragon Age series because it is so sweet. He gives the warden a rose he picked in Lothering and tells her that she is like the rose, somehow beautiful and flourishing in all this darkness.

The art was done by the talented Fukari. She is an artist who excels at making her characters super-expressive, and this piece is as charming as it is chuckle-worthy.

6 Rose Portrait

Made by Russia-based artist, Neirr, this Alistair fan art is also a callback to the romantic rose scene. He is wearing armor with the Grey Warden crest, which is not his default armor, but it definitely fits his character.

The artist has also done portraits of popular characters like Anders, Morrigan, Dorian, Cassandra, Leliana, and Cullen.

5 The Joining Cup

There is a lot going on in this art and the artist, maruhana-bachi, lets the image speak for itself. Alistair is wearing the same armor and holding the same sword that his father and half-brother had. Morrigan is in the background. He is holding the Joining Cup. There is also some sort of being above him with a King’s crown.

The images can all be symbolic of the choices Alistair has to make between being a Grey Warden and being the last of the royal bloodline.

4 Massage And Cheese

The Dragon Age series has a sort of inside joke with cheese. It appears throughout the story, in banters, and is even hidden in corners of maps in Inquisition. Also, it is no secret that Alistair is a fan of cheese.

The artist, aimo, is a major fan of Alistair and includes him in a lot of her fan art. She knows his character pretty well, too, showing both his silly sides and more serious ones in her art.

3 Cheese Snack

Other artists, like pkn2k, recognize Alistair’s love of cheese and drew him with it. Alistair looks a little embarrassed in this picture, as if he was caught eating the last of the cheese.

The artist has done fan art of other Dragon Age such as Solas, Sera, Leliana, Morrigan, Zevran, Varric, Hawke, and more.

2 Chess Piece

Someone needs to make a Dragon Age-themed chess set! This piece of Alistair fan art is super creative, giving him the look of an intricate chess piece. Obviously, he is the King piece, as made evident by the crown). The Mabari are an awesome touch, as they are symbols of the nation of Fereldan.

The artist, fiofaun, has drawn more Dragon Age characters, though, unforunately, not as other chess pieces. Such characters include Cole, Cullen, Anders, Dorian, Morrigan, and a lot of original player-characters.

1 In Inquisition

The artist for this piece, vjatoch, does an amazing job of making video game, cartoon, and anime character portraits in different styles from Disney-like with large eyes to realistic and detailed.

This is how Alistair looks if he is chosen as King in Origins. He will appear like this in Inquisition. However, he appears only if you side with the mages, as that quest goes into Redcliffe Castle.
