Dragon Age: Inquisition introduced tarot card designs into the game to show off different characters, beasts, difficulty settings, and much more. Fans fell in love with the art, and it inspired a new sort of genre to Dragon Age fan art.
Fan artists got into drawing their various characters’ own tarot cards. Like the actual tarot cards, they often assigned their characters a card type from a typical tarot deck and drew in different symbols that were meaningful to their Inquisitors, Hawkes, or Wardens. Of course, it was the Inquisitors who got the most tarot fan art. They were the main protagonists of Dragon Age: Inquisition. So here are 10 pieces of fan-made Inquisitor tarot cards. Check out the links to the artists as well, as they deserve credit for their fabulous work.
10 Dalish Inquisitor
Artist Ravietta has a talent for making tarot cards, so their gallery is full of others like this. Most of them, including this one, are commissions.
Due to the imagery, a lot can be assumed about this Inquisitor. They’re likely a rogue class archer due to the arrow. Obviously, they are a Lavellan inquisitor since they are an elf. As for what tarot card they are, it looks like it’s a Tower.
9 The Moon
This is another Inquisitor tarot card out of Ravietta’s commission collection. She also has fan art for Harry Potter, The Witcher, and certain Disney titles.
According to the artist, the name of this character is Shill. She appears to be another Lavellan inquisitor but may be a mage as her clothes look suited for magic. The tarot card appears to be the Moon, due to the giant crescent on the bottom.
8 Knight Enchanter
Do not be fooled by the sword, as this inquisitor is a mage. Knight enchanters are a specialized class of mages that can create magic swords.
According to the artist, ufficiosulretro, this inquisitor is a human knight enchanter. They also mentioned that the card is Justice out of the tarot deck.
7 Inquisitor Hand
It is not uncommon for the fan-made tarot cards to focus on the inquisitor’s hand, as that is where they have the ability to close the breach and tears in the Fade.
The artist, ViciousJay, decided to give the hand some love with the green glow. Little else is revealed about this inquisitor except that it is the artists’ own character and not a commission.
6 Lavellan With Dread Wolf
According to the artist, Paperwick, this is the Sun tarot card. It certainly has a lot of sunny colors.
The card actually appears to be based on the default female elf race card in Inquisition. It also seems to take inspiration from Solas’ romance tarot card. The Dread Wolf is even with Lavellan in this card and she is wearing Solas’ jawbone necklace. It is safe to assume this Lavellan romanced Solas.
5 The Knight Of Swords
This was a commission done by mureh. According to the commissioner, the card is the Knight of Swords out of the tarot deck. They even mentioned that they picked that card because it symbolizes their inquisitor’s personality: hasty, action-oriented, opinionated, and communicative.
The inquisitors’ name is Genevieve and she appears to be a warrior class.
4 Elf Fighter
It is rare for an inquisitor tarot-card to have such a mocking smile, but it’s great to see some different character personalities shine through.
This piece was made by madnessdemon from Russia, and they have done a number of inquisitor tarot cards as commissions. According to them, the inquisitor’s name is Ellana. Their other art consists of a lot of mythical creatures and other works of Dragon Age fan art.
3 Male Inquisitor
The artist for this piece, Brilcrist, wrote, “My Inquisitor is just another typical white scruffy man. But he deserved his tarot card design as well.” The artist has also done fan art for Final Fantasy XV, Yuri on Ice, Attack on Titan, and more.
As mentioned before, inquisitor’s hands are often a focus. The artist creatively added designs around the inquisitor’s hands since that is where his Fade-sealing magic comes from.
2 Elf Mage
This lavellan inquisitor is holding a staff that looks a little like it symbolizes the sun. It could be a tarot card for the Sun due to that detail. A little design detail is around her magic hand like some of the other cards as well.
The artist is whizumi from Russia and this is their own character.
1 Rogue Inquisitor
This is another tarot card made by ufficiosulretro, the same artist who did the knight enchanter. Besides Dragon Age, this artist does fan art for Overwatch, Bioshock: Infinite, and Assassin’s Creed.
According to the artist, this is one of their own characters. His name is Regan Trevelyan. He actually looks a lot like a more scruffy default rogue Hawke from Dragon Age 2.
