If you want to take a look at what the next generation of game designers is up to, the games created for the USC Game Expo is always a good place to start. Thanks to the coronavirus, the annual expo had to be held digitally this year, and more than more than 80,000 viewers tuned in to watch.
What’s more, all of the games that were featured can be downloaded from the expo’s website.
“Although staying at home was a big curveball, moving everything online offered an unprecedented opportunity to reach a global audience of gamers and students worldwide for the 2020 USC Games,” said Director of USC Games Danny Bilson. “Celebrities from the entertainment and videogame industries banded together to show our students and viewers how careers in videogames are more important and stable than ever, and even if they missed the Expo, fans worldwide can still download and play a remarkable amount of innovative games – all for free.”
While the entries often don’t have the polish or depth of a fully fledged trial, it’s more than worth it to see what these newcomers are capable. You may just be trying out an early game by one of the industry’s next big names.
