In the recently released “Creatures of the Shadow World” gameplay trailer for Eternal Hope, Doublehit Studios leads us through the dark for a closer look and deeper understanding of the ghosts of the Shadow World. Known as the An’Mu, these apparitions can be both helpful and harmful as you travel through their mysterious and haunting world.
The An’mu of Eternal Hope’s Shadow World come in two forms, as explained in the “Creatures of the Shadow World” trailer. Masked An’mu are helpful and unmasked An’mu are to be avoided at all costs. As players help the main character travel through the Shadow World, knowing which An’mu is which and how to handle both is crucial to survival.
Eternal Hope is a side-scrolling puzzle-platformer developed and published by Doublehit Studios with an artistic style inspired by Studio Ghibli. In the game, you immerse into the Shadow World as Ti’bi, a young, grief-stricken boy on a daring journey to reunite with his soul mate after her untimely death. Ti’bi has the power to shift out of the real world and into the Shadow World and back at will, and must learn to proficiently use this ability along the way.
As explained in the new trailer, the two An’mu species can be identified by who is wearing a mask and who isn’t. The An’mu wearing a protective mask are willing to associate with and help Ti’bi overcome the many complex puzzles and perilous places encountered on his adventure. Since the An’mu only appear in one of the realms at a time, Ti’bi must use his realm-shifting ability to use an An’mu’s placement in one realm to his advantage in order to solve a problem faced in the other realm.
An’mu who are not wearing a protective mask are extremely hostile to Ti’bi, and should be avoided with care. These An’mu souls have been exposed to and seized by corruption, and will not hesitate to attack Ti’bi if he gets close enough. An’mu cannot be talked to, or reasoned or bargained with. It’s up to the player and Ti’bi to decide how to survive an encounter with these unmasked An’mu.
Eternal Hope is scheduled to launch on August 6th on Steam, and later this year for the Xbox One. Visit the official Eternal Hope website, and follow the game’s Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Discord channels to stay informed on further news.
