It has been a little over three months since the widely anticipated Doom Eternal graced the gaming community. Upon its initial release, fans of the series were blown away by everything the game had to offer. Now, the second update for Doom Eternal has been released and it has quite a lot of new content featured.

When Doom (2016) first released, it absolutely blew away both old fans of the series and newcomers alike. With tight controls, intense music and sound design, and incredibly gruesome graphics, Doom (2016) marked the beginning of a bright future for the Doom franchise. Once Doom Eternal released it was more than obvious that the series would continue to succeed after Doom (2016).

Though, this new update for Doom Eternal had a lot riding on it. Giving how poorly received the first update to the game was, the developers really wanted to give themselves the chance to improve upon the game in a positive way. This update more than achieves that goal.

The second update includes a brand new multiplayer map called Torment, which will also feature an increase in the “Empowered Enemies” that were featured in the first update. Both of these additions will be sure to make Doom Eternal’s multiplayer more dynamic.

In addition to the new multiplayer map, the update also includes a lot of fixes that help to improve the quality of life in terms of gameplay. This includes the latency issues in Battlemode and some improvements to the UI and menus, not to mention a new feature for taking screenshots called “Render Modes.” Players can now play the game in black and white, gritty, cinematic, and Doom classic.

It’s nice to see that both Id Software and Bethesda continue to remain reactive when it comes to providing players with new content to enjoy. Though, there still has not been any official news regarding DLC for Doom Eternal. There wasn’t really any extensive DLC for Doom (2016), but the director of the game has stated previously that a DLC campaign for Doom Eternal is entirely possible. It remains to be seen when players will see any DLC come from Doom Eternal, but for now, players can enjoy the slew of content featured in the second update.

Doom Eternal is available now for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.
