Since it released on March 20, id Software has been continually updating Doom Eternal with new content, including funny or bizarre new skins which can be applied to Doomguy and the ensemble of different demons he can slay. The game’s second season of content launched in April with a hipster-themed skin for the Archvile, and now players can prepare to get a new “Mullet Slayer” skin for Doomguy on May 21 — complete with an exposed beer belly sticking out from a shirt that proudly proclaims he is “extra thicc.”
However, unlike the hipster Archvile and other pieces of content available through in-game means, Mullet Slayer will only be available to those who connect their Twitch Prime accounts to Doom Eternal through Bethesda.net. Mullet Slayer follows up the DOOMicorn skin released through Twitch Prime in March, however there’s been a delay in the release schedule due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
According to a notice about changing Twitch Prime drops released by the Bethesda Slayers Club on Wednesday, the collection series which was originally only going to have three installments — with Mullet Slayer being the second — will now have a fourth all-new drop “as our way of saying thanks for your understanding and patience.” This announcement comes around the same time as its developers confirming Doom Eternal’s first DLC campaign is on its way.
Doom Eternal is not the only game to be releasing exclusive content through Twitch Prime subscriptions. Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale Apex Legends has become fairly well-known for the practice, and in April released a Twitch Prime skin for Wraith. Titles like Bungie’s Destiny 2 and Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Online have also offered Twitch Prime loot.
That said, Mullet Slayer is certainly an interesting addition to throw on the pile of what players are able to unlock through Twitch Prime. The announcement of the skin on Twitter features a cutscene from Doom Eternal in which Doomguy walks out with his hanging gut and mullet that makes for a strong selling point why someone might want to unlock him.
Doom Eternal is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
