Thanks to government funding and initiatives by the British Film Institute, Maze Theory studios - renowned for VR experiences - will be broadening their horizons in 2021, with games spanning across PC, consoles, and mobile devices. At the top of their list are new games for the popular TV series Doctor Who and Peaky Blinders, aiming to deliver first-time fan experiences with story-driven gameplay.

Doctor Who will be expanding with a new title for the PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch along with a separate horror/sci-fi game for smartphones. These two new titles combined with the Doctor Who: The Edge of Time VR game that launched in 2019 creates a trilogy for the time-warping franchise. Fans can look forward to some new game mechanics along with staple features such as the Doctor’s nemesis race, the Daleks, her TARDIS, bone-chilling Weeping Angels, and of course, the Doctor herself.

Maze Theory also has plans to expand its upcoming VR title, Peaky Blinders - The King’s Ransom. Thanks to the extra funding the company has received, the game will now be coming to additional platforms as well. As one might expect from such a plot-heavy franchise, The King’s Ransom will be a narrative-driven action-adventure set in prominent locations like The Garrison Pub and Charlie’s Yeard. Of course, fans can also expect appearances from iconic characters such as Tommy and Arthur Shelby, and Polly Gray; they are the “Peaky F-ing Blinders” after all.

Both Doctor Who titles and the Peaky Blinders - The King’s Ransom are set to drop in 2021.
