Update 1.3 Watery Water has splashed down in Ylands, the free-to-play creativity platform developed by Bohemia Interactive (Arma 3, DayZ). Flooding the update is the ability for players to now explore an entire sea world, and new terraforming editing tools allow players to carve out swaths of land, and use the new water volume to create puddles, ponds, or even lakes.

Along with the deep-sea exploration and new terraforming tools, update 1.3 includes a veritable sea of new content. Scuba gear has been added to help players explore the ocean depths, where they can discover random encounters as well as a secret botanical facility, sunken shipwrecks, and even crashed alien vessels. Almost every creature can now be tamed and used as mounts or farmed for their natural resources. And as usual with updates, plenty of bug fixes and gameplay improvements have also been added.

“With Watery Water, players will dive deep into the sea of content we have stuffed this update with, ranging from deep sea exploration to editor improvements and additions,” said Marton Magyar, Marketing Manager for Ylands in the official press release. “Whether you are a die-hard exploration fan or a renowned creator, there is something for everyone in this update.”

With the Watery Water update, players can now dive into the ocean blue where they’ll find a multitude of new game assets, including wooden and metal chests, glowing coral, shipwrecks, steamships, renewable resources, and more. Of course, before taking the plunge, players will need to suit up with the newly available scuba gear, which includes helmets, masks, snorkels, and air tanks.

On land, players can employ the updated terraforming tool in editor mode to fashion the landscape as they wish, including digging out deep sections of land to then fill with water using the water volume tool. Supporting editor improvements include two new basic building tool shapes to use, enhancements to the flatten and smooth functions, a new water volume game logic, the ability to regenerate ocean surface tiles, and an overhaul of the entire editor UI.

Almost every animal in Ylands can now be tamed and ridden with the 1.3 update. Many of them may also be harvested for resources, including wool from sheep, and milk from goats. A variety of bait has also been added so players may lure such creatures as boars, rabbits, deer, rhinos, horses, honeybadgers, and others in order to attempt to tame and use them as mounts.

The Watery Water update also includes a number of game engine improvements, such as improved particle effects on clothing and NPCs, two new editor mode music tracks, an ambient sound override, improvements to the screenshot system, new underwater particle effects, and an array of bug fixes.
