Innocents are back in Disgaea RPG, but the concept remains as strange as ever. Let’s break down what exactly innocents are, what they do, and how you can start using them to your advantage.

Types Of Innocents

  • Innocents are creatures that reside in a weapon or armor.

While inside a piece of equipment, they provide a passive bonus to that equipment. These bonuses are usually small, like a 2% increase to MAG or EXP gain. Where they truly start to shine is when they are stacked up.

A 2% increase can become 20%, which will significantly increase the weapon’s power, especially at later levels when stats are in the range of tens of thousands.

  • There is a limit to how many innocents can reside in equipment at a time.

This limit, referred to as its POP, is determined by the item’s rarity. Items with a higher rarity have a proportionately higher POP, and thus can benefit more from more Innocents.

There are a few different types of Innocents that each provide different bonuses. Before an Innocent is subdued, it will appear in the item as a generic type.

  • There are four types of Innocents; Foundation, Physical, Brain, and Ambition.

Each type dictates what stat bonus the Innocent will provide once it’s subdued. You can find these pre-subdued Innocents in the Innocent List.

The Innocent List

  • Foundation Innocents are either HP or SPD. Physical Innocents are either ATK or DEF. Brain Innocents are either INT or RES. Ambition Innocents are either HL or EXP.

Similar to gear, Innocents also have a rarity; Common, Rare, and Legendary. The higher the rarity of an Innocent, the higher its value cap.

This means a Legendary Innocent will provide a higher bonus than a Common one.

How To Use Innocents

To start equipping your gear with Innocents, first pick out which gear you’ll be using. The higher rarity, the better.

Be sure to match the Innocent with the type of weapon. For example, if you’re using a sword with its main stat being ATK, equip it with ATK boosting Innocents. Other types like INT or RES wouldn’t be nearly as effective, so match the Innocent’s stat to the weapon’s.

You can move Innocents from one item to another, and the first time doing so is free. However, after the first time, it will cost HL each time you move the Innocent to an item.

The cost goes up according to their rarity, at a rate of 1,000 HL for Common Innocents, 10,000 HL for Rare Innocents, and 100,000 HL for Legendary Innocents.

Where To Find Innocents

Innocents are found in the Item World. For a more detailed look at the Item World, check out this guide.

Essentially, Innocents hide inside a piece of gear and must be bribed into submission before they will work in your favor. To do so, you first have to pick the right piece of gear.

You can tell if a piece of equipment has Innocents in it by the red and yellow faces on the equipment’s details page. A red “angry” face means that there is an Innocent in the equipment, but it has yet to be Subdued. If the face is a yellow “happy” one, that means the Innocent is residing in the gear and providing its bonus.

How To Subdue Innocents

First, select a piece of gear that has red Innocents, and go into the equipment’s Item World. It’s random when the Innocent will appear, but it will happen eventually.

  • Once you’ve encountered the Innocent, you will have the option of Bribing it or Subduing it, as well as a bar indicating your chance of Subduing. To increase your chances of capturing the Innocent, bribe it with gold pieces or Crab Miso. Crab Miso raises the chances the most but is also the hardest to acquire. It’s important to remember that the chance doesn’t have to be 100% to successfully Subdue the Innocent However, if you fail Subduing it, the Innocent might run away, removing that Innocent from the gear. If the Innocents run away from you, you’ve essentially lost that Innocent for good, so be careful.

After you’ve successfully Subdued the Innocent, you can leave the Item World. Head over to the Innocent menu and you’ll see your new Innocent sitting in the equipment. Move it to another piece of gear or store it for later, and that’s all there is to it!
