After holding the lead for the last few laps, DiRT 5 has slightly veered off course and has been hit with a delay. Originally looking like it would finish on October 9, 2020, publisher Codemasters has announced that DiRT 5 will now cross the finish a week later on October 16, 2020.
I’m not sure if that analogy makes sense, but the news still stands. Those looking forward to the newest DiRT will have to wait a little while longer before getting their hands on the wheel. If you opt for the “Amplified Edition,” you receive three days early access to the racer on October 13, 2020.
Not keen to let players forget, Codemasters reminded everyone that DiRT 5 will be eligible for a free upgrade to both the PS5 and Xbox Series X ports later in the year. That’s a pretty solid reason to buy it on current-gen platforms since you won’t need to double-dip when you do finally upgrade. We’re not exactly sure how it will work on Sony’s platform, but Xbox gamers will just insert the disc and receive all the upgrades as a download.
It must be strange releasing a game so close to the end of a console’s lifespan, but at least most developers seem keen to offer free updates. That’s the best course of action versus creating a completely different SKU and asking for another $60.
