Digimon Survive may be delayed based on information from Toei Animation Europe’s official website, which indicates the game will be now be released in January 2021. Causing confusion, however, is Toei Animation Japan’s release schedule that suggests that Digimon Survive and Digimon New Century are still on course for release in 2020, contradicting the suggested 2021 date on Toei Animation Europe.
The game, when it is released, is a survival strategy role-playing game developed by Witchcraft. It will be published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Players will be able to influence the direction of the game’s narrative, including the Digimon’s digivolution process, based on their choices. This gives the game some replay value, allowing fans to revisit the story and choose different options, allowing them to explore and experience different story paths and digivolutions in the process.
Apparently, Digimon Survive – which takes influence from the long-running popular anime series – will have multiple endings and, should certain choices be made, not all characters may survive when credits finally roll. It will boast numerous gameplay mechanics, including Drama Parts, Search Action, Free Action and Free Battle.
During Drama Parts, the game becomes a text adventure. Search Actions allows players to search for a means to survive. In contrast, Free Action gives the gamer freedom to travel and explore, choosing who to interact with during a limited time frame. Finally, in Free Battle, fans can enter areas to train their Digimon and collect items.
Digimon Survive will release on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
