If asked to recall a villain from the Digimon Adventure series, odds are most people will cite Devimon. As the driving force behind most of the problems in the beginning of the show, Devimon is easily one of its most iconic villains. As such, it’s no surprise that the reboot is bringing the fiend back.
The Digimon Adventure reboot has definitely taken some liberties with the stories and proven that it isn’t afraid to step away from its source material a bit, but for the most part the story remains the same. Most hardcore Digimon fans knew it was only a matter of time before Devimon showed his face.
At the end of episode 5, it was revealed that Ogremon was not the only one behind the recent attacks that the DigiDestined have been experiencing, but that he is instead taking orders from a mysterious, devil-like Digimon.
Of course, fans of the series already know this is Devimon, but his entrance still has enough mystery to build up the character. The introduction of Holy Digimon raised the stakes of the conflict a bit, so it is likely that Devimon may get a similar boost in status.
