Fallout 4 wins the top prize at the 19th annual DICE Awards, earning its place as Game of the Year against the likes of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Super Mario Maker.

Fallout 4 has proved to be a massive critical and commercial success, with the game earning almost entirely positive reviews and Bethesda having to ship 12 million copies for day one demand alone. That said, the game has not always proved to be a winner in awards ceremonies, with Bethesda’s action RPG playing bridesmaid to other acclaimed games. Fallout 4 has now picked up a much-wanted award, however, after being named Game of the Year at the 19th annual DICE Awards.

The awards ceremony was more than happy to give Fallout 4 top prize over the competition. The show, which is organized by The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, picked the title over a number of other hugely successful titles, such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Super Mario Maker. In spite of that stiff opposition, Bethesda walked away with the much-lauded Game of the Year trophy.

It wasn’t the only category where Fallout 4 proved to be top dog, either. The post-apocalyptic RPG also picked up the award for the best Role-Playing/Massively Multiplayer Game of the Year, as well coming out on top for Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction. Bethesda also gained the Mobile Game of the Year award for mobile spin-off Fallout Shelter.

Fallout 4 has been up for a number of Game of the Year titles, but has sometimes fallen short. The title has been going head to head with CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3, with a number of shortlists still pending between the two. The fantasy epic has picked up a multitude of awards since it was released in May of last year, including Game of the Year at the 2015 Game Awards.

CD Projekt RED did win some of the categories available at this year’s DICE Awards, too. The Witcher 3 may have been pipped to Game of the Year, but it still picked up the award for Outstanding Achievement in Story, as well as the Outstanding Technical Achievement award. Other winners included Ori and the Blind Forest, which won for Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction, and Star Wars Battlefront, which was chosen for Action Game of the Year.

Bethesda will no doubt be happy with picking up Game of the Year at the DICE Awards, but the developer isn’t done with Fallout 4 just yet. The RPG is going to be on the receiving end of additional content over the course of 2016, with Bethesda planning to launch three sets of DLC. At the moment, it seems like there’s plenty of life left in Fallout 4.
