What started out as an attempt to make a simply challenging hack and slash platformer would lead to the beginning of one of Capcom’s flagship franchises. Devil May Cry has turned into a gaming household name. Considered one of the most recognizable series today, it has branched out and became it’s own behemoth.

A behemoth with a large array of well developed characters. One of these characters being Patty Lowell. While Patty is one of the primary supporting characters in the animated series, she is not all too present in the games. Because of this many fans miss some interesting facts about this young girl.

10 Age

One of the more interesting things to consider about anime and videogame characters, that tends to get criminally overlooked, is their age. Patty Lowell is very young during the DMC anime series Patty is 8 years old, and in Devil May Cry 5, she had just turned 18.

9 A Case Of Mistaken Identity

Patty Lowell is introduced to the world of Devil May Cry in quite the humorous way. Patty Lowell is actually quite a common name in the DMC universe, and many woman indeed share this name. Making things more complicated, one of the wealthiest heiresses in the world has the name Patty Lowell.

Dante, believing the young 8 year old girl to be the true heiress, went out of his way to protect her, and virtually adopt her. Later it would be revealed he had made a mistake, though it was too late to get rid of his charge.

8 Lived In The Devil May Cry Shop

A signature of the series since the beginning. The Devil May Cry Shop serves as a kind of base of operation and respite for Dante and his allies.

Patty begins to live in the shop shortly after Dante rescues her from the demons attempting to take her life. Patty pays this back by working as the de facto maid of the DMC shop.

7 Descending From Greatness

While Patty Lowell is not the heir of the wealthy Lowell fortune, the greatness she descends from is even more significant. She is the lineage of Alan Lowell, one of the most powerful sorcerers in the DMC universe. Despite the fact that Patty is human and mortal, her genes could mean that she is destined for great power. Maybe soon she will be assisting Dante with his more difficult missions.

6 Cameo In Devil May Cry 5

Patty does not make a full appearance in of the DMC Franchise games. Nonetheless she does make a cameo in DMC 5, speaking to Dante over the phone making it very clear that she misses him and has called a “zillion” times. Maybe there is a good chance she will make her full gaming debut in Devil May Cry 6.

5 Long Lost Mother

Being the descendants of a powerful sorcerer has been more of a problem than a boon to the Lowell women. Both Patty and her mother Nina have been continuously hunted by demons. This hunt would get so bad that after Patty’s birth Nina’s mother had to disappear with Patty believing for a long part of her life that she had died of complications during birth. Eventually the two would be reunited and live together as mother and daughter again.

4 Grew Up Lonely In An Orphanage

Until she would meet and be saved by Dante, Patty was growing up in an orphanage. Informed that she was the heiress of a major fortune. Despite this silver lining, Patty would feel lonely and unloved, until the fateful day she would meet her new friend, Dante.

3 Used As A Decoy For Demons

The other Patty Lowell, the true wealthy heiress to the Lowell fortune, was also a mark for demons. To fake her own death and live peacefully without being hunted, she would stage a plan to fake her own death, using the orphan Patty Lowell as a sit in for herself.

The Patty Dante would eventually save was to be a de facto sacrifice to the demons so that Patty Lowell could avoid her own demise. After her cowardly actions would be uncovered she offered to take care of the girl. Patty instead chose to live with Dante, however the heiress Lowell would provide the gril with small fortune as an apology.

2 Still Volunteers At The Orphanage

Even after Patty creates a new family consisting of friends and her rediscovered biological mother, she does not forget her time at the orphanage. As an act of charity, kindness, humility, and above all, sympathy, Patty still dedicates her spare time to helping out at the orphanages as much as she can. Whether it be financially, or through plain volunteer work, Patty has always been a resource for parentless children.

1 Saved Dante

The most important tidbit about Patty Lowell that fans don’t know, is that she once saved Dante himself. While the Devil Hunter was battling the powerful demon Abigail, he accidently impaled himself on his own sword. Patty would enter the demon’s realm to wake Dante and give him the motivation needed to save himself, and slay Abigail. Were it not for Patty, Dante may have been toast.
