Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander is set to make a return to the Astralis CS:GO squad in August, according to teammate Nicolai “device” Reedtz. Device revealed the in-game leader would be rejoining the team on an episode of HLTV.org’s podcast, HLTV Confirmed. Device also mentioned Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth, whose return is still uncertain.
Gla1ve announced his decision to go on a three-month medical leave in May, while Jakob “JUGi” Hansen took his place on Astralis’ active CS:GO roster. The 25-year-old cited burnout and stress as motivators for temporarily stepping down from the team. After nearly four years under the Astralis name, gla1ve has led the squad to four CS:GO Major victories, an Intel Grand Slam win, and countless other premier trophies.
Shortly after gla1ve’s departure, legendary support player Xyp9x revealed he would also be going on an extended break, with Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer joining the team in his absence. While citing similar burnout as reason for leaving, Xyp9x did not give a specific timeframe for his return. In yesterday’s episode of HLTV Confirmed, Device spoke on the returns of both players. “Gla1ve’s return is planned for August,” the Astralis star said, “[Xyp9x’s] return is not planned.”
Astralis has struggled since the departure of both players, finishing 9-12th in DreamHack Masters Spring and 7-8th in the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown. Astralis is currently not confirmed to attend any upcoming events until ESL Pro League Season 12.
