Destruction AllStars leads PlayStation’s free games lineup this month, giving players a brand new next-generation title to enjoy. This destruction derby pits flashy showmen against each other to wreck their competition with style.
Those looking to thrive in the mayhem need to understand how each vehicle functions. With four different cars strewn across each venue, learning each machine’s strengths and weaknesses is integral to success. Smash the opposition with these tips on how to handle each vehicle.
Small Vehicles
The first car players will get their hands on is the Small Vehicle. This machine is the most agile of the game’s catalog, able to skid and slide past other options with ease. These cars handle better than any other due to tight and responsive controls. To balance out the superiority of its maneuverability, these machines are the worst at dealing damage. In addition to its poor damage output, it has the lowest vehicle health pool, sitting at 120 HP. These cars are best used for careful hit and run attacks.
Balanced Vehicles
Next up is the Balanced Vehicle. While not as fast as the Small Vehicles, this machine is speedy with steady handling to match. What this car does better than any other is drift. Those who master the hand brake can turn on a dime, leaving their opponents reeling. Balanced Vehicles are more adept at dishing out damage than Small Vehicles. They have a superior health pool as well, clocking in at 160 HP. Use these vehicles to skewer Small Vehicles and chip away at Heavy Vehicles carefully.
Heavy Cars
Of the standard vehicles in Destruction AllStars, the Heavy Vehicle can be classified as a force of nature. These slower, more powerful machines outlast every other vehicle with ease. They dole out incredible amounts of damage in short amounts of time. It even has to deepest health pool with 200 HP. With so much power behind the wheel, it does need some weaknesses to help keep it balanced. The Heavies are the hardest to control, struggling to drift and turn when compared to both the Balanced and Small Vehicles.
Breaker Cars
The final class of cars is the Breaker Vehicles. Each AllStar has their own unique Breaker that can be called once a Breaker Meter is filled. They all have varying abilities, health pools, and weaknesses. Ratu’s Breaker Vehicle is Barong. To access Barong’s Breaker Ability, Ratu must damage opponents consistently. Once her bar has filled, she can use Countdown, a move that creates a radial blast dealing devastating damage to those on foot and in vehicles. Those looking for a more aggressive Breaker Vehicle need look no further than Ruta.
With 16 separate AllStars to choose from, there is a multitude of variations in Breaker Vehicles. Some prioritize defense, like Shift’s, while others emphasize speed as Genesis’s does. It’s up to players to decide which character’s Breaker best fits their playstyle and preferences.
